NHAI Opens Kakoria Flyover on Gurugram-Rewari Highway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened the Kakoria flyover on the Gurugram-Pataudi-Rewari Highway, or NH-352W, near Rewari, for trial traffic movement in both directions. The opening is expected to improve access for commuters travelling between Rewari, Pataudi and Gurugram.

The 1.2-km flyover is located around 40 km from the Dwarka Expressway and was opened after load testing, according to an NHAI official. The Jamalpur flyover on the same highway was opened for traffic last week after undergoing similar testing.

NHAI plans to complete the 45-km highway by the end of November. The project is being built at an estimated cost of Rs. 19 bn. However, the flyover at the Dwarka Expressway and a rail overbridge near Pahadi village are scheduled to be completed by March 31.

The highway was originally due for completion two years ago, but the work was delayed by the relocation of high-tension power lines and delays in securing clearances for land acquisition and tree felling. The Patli flyover is nearing completion and is expected to be ready by the end of this month.

Work on the Wazirpur flyover is progressing more slowly because the relocation of high-tension power lines requires a shutdown from the power utility. The Dwarka Expressway flyover has also been affected by delays in shifting power lines, with completion planned by March 31. NHAI officials said efforts were under way to finish the pending structures by that date. A multi-lane, free-flow toll plaza has also been proposed at Janaula village.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
