NHAI Removes 55 Unauthorised Structures Along Two National Highways

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed a special anti-encroachment drive along National Highway-44 (NH-44) and National Highway-444A (NH-444A). The operation was conducted by NHAI’s Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in Ambala under the authority’s Regional Office (RO) in Chandigarh.

During the drive, officials removed 55 unauthorised temporary structures located on NHAI land and within the Right of Way (ROW) of the two National Highways. The structures were identified as encroachments affecting land and road corridors under the authority’s jurisdiction.

The operation was intended to make the highway stretches free from encroachments and support smoother movement of traffic. NHAI said the action would also help improve road safety and convenience for people using the two routes.

Encroachments within the Right of Way can restrict the space available for road operations and affect the movement of vehicles. Their removal is part of efforts to maintain highway corridors and ensure that land reserved for national road infrastructure remains available for its intended purpose.

NHAI said it would continue to take necessary measures to keep the Right of Way of National Highways free from encroachments. The latest operation covered the stretches under the administrative oversight of the Ambala PIU and Chandigarh Regional Office, with the removal of the identified temporary structures completing the reported drive.
