Nitin Gadkari inaugurates Delhi-Meerut Expressway phase-3 constructed at Rs 10.58 bn

The 22 km long Delhi-Meerut Expressway phase-3 which is estimated to be built at a cost of Rs 10.58 billion, was recently inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

As reported, the 82 km stretch, connecting Delhi and Meerut will be developed at an approximate cost of Rs 83.46 billion. The third phase of the expressway extends from Dasna to Hapur and consists of a six-lane section with lane service roads on either side. It also includes a 4.68-km long six-lane elevated corridor at Pilkhuwa.

This phase is an important step towards managing traffic and decongesting the National Capital Region. It is also reported to reduce pollution levels and result in time savings of more than an hour. With the construction of a bridge across the upper Ganga canal, the project will additionally involve the building of seven bridges, a flyover and two foot over-bridges amongst other things.

The expressway is being built in four phases, out of which two phases are currently undergoing construction and are more than 50 per cent complete. It is reported to be finished in six months and will reduce travel time between the two cities from four hours to 45 minutes.
