PMRDA Land Acquisition for Inner Ring Road's First Phase to Conclude Soon

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is making significant progress in its plan to construct an inner ring road aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in Pune. The land acquisition for the first phase, covering a 4.7 km stretch from Solu to Vadgaon Shinde, is set to conclude in the next three to four months. This project marks an important step in easing traffic congestion across the city's urban areas.

The inner ring road, part of a larger initiative by the state government, is designed to divert traffic from congested city roads, connecting highways directly to major areas. Spanning 83.12 km, the road will provide a faster and smoother route, particularly benefiting Nagar Road, which experiences heavy congestion during peak hours.

The project will require approximately 743.41 hectares of land across 44 villages in the Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval talukas. At a cost of Rs 14,200 crore, it will include vital infrastructure such as 17 bridges, 10 tunnels, and provisions for future metro tracks. The project’s land acquisition process had faced delays last year due to the state assembly elections but is now proceeding rapidly.

Joint measurements for the first phase have been completed, and the valuation process is currently underway. Compensation has already been paid for part of the land, and approximately 30% of the Rs 113 crore allocated for land acquisition has been deposited. The land acquisition process uses advanced technology, including drones, to ensure accuracy and speed.

Once completed, the first phase of the ring road will offer significant relief to Nagar Road's congestion, improving travel for residents and businesses in the area. The full project, which will cover 1,301 survey numbers in the second phase, represents a long-term investment in Pune's transport infrastructure.
