PNC Infratech Accepts Rs 2.35 Billion NHAI Settlement Offer

PNC Infratech has accepted a settlement offer of Rs 2.35 billion (bn) from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Vivad se Vishwas III dispute resolution scheme for the Agra bypass project. The company said the acceptance resolves the specific claim addressed in the offer and constitutes a settlement of outstanding dues related to the project. The settlement amount will be recorded in the company accounts in the relevant reporting period. The settlement pertains solely to the identified claim and does not affect other contracts.

The NHAI is the nodal agency overseeing national highway projects and the settlement relates to contractual or payment differences arising from the Agra bypass contract. PNC Infratech had engaged with the authority under the scheme created to expedite resolution of such disputes and settle claims without prolonged litigation. The action is intended to bring closure to the matter between the parties. The process under the scheme aims to reduce legal costs and speed up settlements for contractors and the authority.

The company indicated that the financial effect of the settlement will be reflected in its statements and will alter the carrying value of affected receivables or liabilities. Management will account for the settlement in accordance with applicable accounting norms and disclose the outcome in periodic financial reports. The clearing of this claim will allow the firm to focus management attention on ongoing construction and tender activities. Accounting treatments will follow prevailing standards and will be detailed in the next financial disclosures.

The settlement follows policy measures aimed at resolving legacy disputes in infrastructure contracts and mirrors similar resolutions undertaken by other contractors in recent years. PNC Infratech continues to pursue project execution and delivery across its portfolio while monitoring contractual risks. The company confirmed that it remains engaged in routine project implementation and compliance activities. The acceptance of the offer removes an element of uncertainty surrounding the contract and permits clearer allocation of resources to active sites.
