IGBC Green Summit Highlights Sustainable Urban Growth

The CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Chandigarh Chapter recently hosted its Green BuildTech Summit at the CII Northern Headquarters, focusing on “High-Performance Buildings & Sustainable Urban Growth.” The event convened policymakers, urban planners, developers, architects, and sustainability experts to discuss the role of sustainable infrastructure in India’s low-carbon transition.

Dr. Amarpal Singh, IAS (Retd.), highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into design and urban development, stressing that green building is a philosophy of responsible living. Rakesh Kumar Goyal, Chairperson, RERA Punjab, noted that energy-efficient and environmentally responsible projects are becoming key drivers of real estate value and stakeholder confidence.

Jagjit Singh Majha, Chairman, IGBC Chandigarh Chapter, underscored the need for high-performance buildings to optimise resources and enhance resilience, citing 1,700+ green projects across Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab, including 23 net-zero initiatives.
