Telangana Sanctions Rs 1.10 Billion For Pipeline Road Project

The Telangana government has approved an investment of Rs 1.10 billion for the development of a 3.57 km Pipeline Road linking Shankarpally Road near MGIT in Gandipet with Manikonda. The project is aimed at easing traffic congestion across key growth corridors, including Kokapet, Manikonda, Gandipet, Puppalguda and Narsingi, along with their surrounding areas.

The proposed road will feature a six-lane carriageway with a 10-metre-wide median designed to accommodate a heritage channel. The scope of work also includes drain-cum-footpaths on both sides of the carriageway, construction of culverts and minor bridges, junction improvements and landscaping. In addition, missing link roads will be developed to improve network connectivity and traffic distribution.

Tenders for the project will be floated shortly through the e-procurement platform. Execution of the works has been entrusted to Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited, a special purpose arm of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.

The new corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve overall mobility in areas such as Alkapur Township, Manikonda and Neknampur. Both the Pipeline Road and the associated link roads will be developed as 80-feet-wide arterial roads, intended to serve as alternative routes to existing main roads in the region.

According to an HGCL official, the development of the link roads will be undertaken at an estimated cost of around Rs 32.7 million and is expected to be completed within six months. The official added that these arterial roads will play a crucial role in decongesting traffic and supporting rapid urban growth in western Hyderabad.
