The Maharashtra Government plans to expedite all pending railway projects on priority basis.These include an intercity between Gondia and Akola, development of the Nagpur station, expediting the third line between Nagpur and Wardha and increasing heights of platforms of stations between Gondia and Chanda Fort.

The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (Maharail) has chosen two distinct designs for the construction of a 1.5km-long bridge along the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link road. It was stated by a Maharail official that a cable-stayed structure and a bowstring design have been opted for.

The bridge is planned to extend from Ghatkopar BEST depot to LBS road, with an interchange facility at the 90-feet road junction to ease traffic movement to and from Pant Nagar. Furthermore, it will extend across the LBS road to alleviate congestion for commuters traveling towards Andheri.
