Delhi CM greenlights MoU for phase-4's initial 3 metro corridors

An official statement conveyed that the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the first three corridors under Phase-IV of the metro has been approved by Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister, Delhi. The approval involves collaboration between the Delhi government, the Centre, and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Presently, the DMRC is actively engaged in the construction of a 65.2-km stretch encompassing three priority corridors with 45 stations.

The three corridors include Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg (28.92 km) and Majlis Park-Maujpur (12.55 km), both extensions of the Magenta Line and Pink Line of the Delhi Metro. Additionally, the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor (23.62 km), known as the Golden Line, is under construction to connect the Violet Line and the Airport Line from their respective ends.

As per the official statement from the Delhi government, the approval granted by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will expedite the progress of construction on these three corridors. The statement emphasized that the MoU will play a crucial role in eliminating any "obstacles" encountered during the construction phase.

The statement also highlighted the efforts of the Kejriwal government in seeking approval for the remaining three Phase-IV corridors, which are currently pending with the central government. These proposed corridors awaiting approval are Rithala-Bawana-Narela, Inderlok-Indraprastha, and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block, and the government is actively pursuing their swift approval.
