Dibrugarh Rajdhani Gets New Coach Rake for Smoother Travel

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced a brand-new Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coach rake on the Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, marking a significant upgrade aimed at enhancing passenger experience. This move is part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to modernise rolling stock across premium services with safer, smoother, and more efficient trains.

The new rake replaces an older version and features improved suspension, modern interiors, better insulation, and updated safety systems. These refinements—though subtle—will provide travellers with a more comfortable and reliable journey, especially on long-haul routes such as this vital connection between the Northeast and the national capital.

LHB coaches are known for their energy efficiency, lighter build, higher speed capabilities, and superior crashworthiness. Their introduction aligns with India’s drive towards sustainable transport solutions and reflects a commitment to minimising maintenance while maximising passenger safety and comfort.

The deployment is particularly meaningful for the Northeast region, which has historically faced infrastructure gaps. Upgrading the Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani enhances regional connectivity, promotes inclusivity, and demonstrates Indian Railways’ intention to deliver equal-quality services across the country.

While the design follows standard LHB configurations, the freshness and dependability of the new rake will reduce service disruptions and provide a cleaner, more ergonomic travel environment. This rollout further strengthens public confidence in the railway system and supports national goals of accessible, modern, and sustainable mobility for all.
