GPT Infraprojects Subsidiary Wins Rs. 3.85 bn South African Order

GPT Infraprojects has announced that its subsidiary, GPT Concrete Products South Africa, has secured a five-year contract from the Chief Procurement Officer of Transnet Freight Rail in South Africa. The order, awarded by an international entity, covers the manufacture and supply of railway concrete sleepers from the subsidiary’s factory at Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal.

The contract is valued at ZAR 660 mn plus VAT, equivalent to approximately Rs. 3.85 bn plus VAT. The subsidiary will manufacture the sleepers at its Ladysmith facility and supply them to Transnet Freight Rail over the five-year execution period. GPT Infraprojects said neither its promoter group nor group companies have any interest in the awarding entity.

The order does not fall under related-party transactions, according to the company’s regulatory disclosure. The contract win was announced under the disclosure requirements applicable to listed companies, with the company informing the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India.

GPT Infraprojects, the flagship company of GPT Group, is headquartered in Kolkata and operates through infrastructure and sleeper segments. Its infrastructure business focuses on civil and infrastructure projects, including bridges, rail overbridges and road works for government contracts, while its sleeper business manufactures and supplies concrete railway sleepers in India and Africa.

The company has manufacturing units at Panagarh in West Bengal, Ladysmith in South Africa, Tsumeb in Namibia and Eshiem in Ghana. Following the latest contract, its outstanding order book stands at Rs. 53.77 bn, while total order inflow for FY27 has reached Rs. 12.03 bn. GPT Infraprojects is listed on the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE under the symbol GPTINFRA and scrip code 533761, respectively.
