Nashik-Pune semi high-speed rail land acquisition gears up

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar took charge of overseeing the advancing land acquisition efforts for the Nashik-Pune semi high-speed rail (S-HSR) project. In a virtual meeting, officials from Nashik's district administration convened to discuss progress and next steps.

Jalaj Sharma, Nashik's Collector, shared insights from the meeting, indicating that a significant 18% of the necessary land for the project in Nashik district has been procured so far. Expressing their commitment, the district administration is actively engaged in facilitating the land acquisition process. Pawar, in response, assured that he would raise the matter with both the Chief Minister and the Central government for support and resolution.

Efforts to acquire land for the project led to a purchase agreement with 125 farmers for 45 hectares in Sinnar. However, complications emerged when MahaRail (Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation), the joint venture between the Government of Maharashtra and the Ministry of Railways, requested alterations due to modifications in track alignment between Nashik and Pune.

Despite the challenges, progress is evident, with approximately 45 hectares of the required 197 hectares in Sinnar taluka secured. Meanwhile, Nashik taluka necessitates 38 hectares from five villages.

The Nashik-Pune semi high-speed rail project, with its strategic importance, stands as a transformative endeavour poised to enhance connectivity and boost regional development. Ajit Pawar's proactive review underscores the administration's determination to navigate challenges and ensure the timely realisation of this ambitious railway venture.
