PM Asks Andhra Pradesh to Expedite Railway Land Acquisition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed Andhra Pradesh to expedite land acquisition for the Errupalem-Amaravati-Namburu railway line and transfer the required land to the Railways. He also asked the state to accelerate construction of the Bulk Drug Park at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district. The direction was issued as the state was asked to ensure timely completion of key development works.

Modi reviewed the progress of the projects during a video conference with chief secretaries from various states under the PRAGATI initiative from New Delhi on Wednesday. The review focused on development projects requiring coordination between the Centre, state governments and central agencies, with the Prime Minister stressing proactive steps to prevent implementation delays. Andhra Pradesh chief secretary Sai Prasad was among the officials present at the meeting.

Sai Prasad informed the meeting that the state would speed up land acquisition for the railway project and aimed to complete the process and hand over the land during November and December. The line is intended to strengthen connectivity in the state capital region, and Modi emphasised that land-related issues should not hold up its progress. The project was reviewed as part of efforts to improve railway connectivity and support regional development.

The meeting also examined the PM Ekta Mall being developed in Visakhapatnam and the Bulk Drug Park at Nakkapalli. Modi called for concerted efforts to accelerate both projects and keep their implementation aligned with the scheduled timelines. The review also covered PM GatiShakti, including the PM Setu initiative relating to the ITI ecosystem, along with other initiatives requiring coordination between the Centre and the states.

The PRAGATI platform enables the Prime Minister to monitor major development projects and address bottlenecks with state governments and central agencies. Special chief secretary RP Sisodia, principal secretary Syamala Rao, secretaries Kona Sasidhar and Yuvaraj, APIIC managing director Dinesh Kumar and CRDA additional commissioner Bhargav Tej attended the conference. The meeting underlined the role of state-level coordination in keeping major infrastructure and industrial projects on schedule.
