PM Modi to Virtually Inaugurate Redeveloped Begumpet Station

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the redeveloped Begumpet railway station on Thursday, as part of the opening of 103 Amrit Bharat stations across India. Karimnagar and Warangal stations in Telangana will also be opened.

Begumpet station has been transformed into a modern transit hub reflecting Telangana’s heritage under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, at an estimated cost of Rs 265.5 million. South-Central Railway officials said upgrades include escalators, lifts, spacious waiting halls, modern toilets, and dedicated facilities for differently-abled commuters.

The station features Telangana’s state bird, the Indian Roller, as a symbolic centrepiece. Additional improvements include illuminated lighting, landscaped greenery, water features, and clear signage to enhance the commuter experience.

Begumpet will be operated entirely by women staff, from station master to ticket clerks and security personnel. A dedicated surveillance system is in place to ensure safety for female passengers.

Serving over 15 thousand passengers daily, Begumpet is one of Hyderabad’s busiest suburban stations after Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda stations.
