Proposed metro line extension from Sector 142 submitted for approval

Officials announced that the comprehensive project report outlining the extension of the metro line from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden stations has been submitted to local authorities for approval.

Upon receiving in-principle approval from the Noida Authority and the Greater Noida Authority, the detailed project report (DPR) will be presented in the upcoming board meeting of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), as stated by a senior officer.

Subsequently, the DPR will undergo the approval process from the Uttar Pradesh government and the Central government," stated Lokesh M, Managing Director of NMRC. The DPR, created by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for NMRC, focuses on the Aqua Line that operates between Noida and Greater Noida.

As per the DPR, the proposed new line will stretch between Sector 142 station on the Aqua Line of Noida Metro and Delhi Metro's Botanical Garden station, an interchange for the Blue Line and Magenta Line. The total length of the proposed line is 11.56 km, with an estimated cost of Rs 2254.35 crore, according to NMRC's statement. The statement outlined the inclusion of eight new elevated stations on this line, including Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, Panchsheel Balak Inter College, and Sector 142 (already existing).

"This project aims to enhance connectivity for residents within Noida and Greater Noida and establish a link to the Delhi Metro network. Botanical Garden will act as an interchange station between NMRC?s Aqua Line and DMRC?s Magenta & Blue Line," said Lokesh M. He emphasised that the project will benefit commuters traveling between Noida-Greater Noida and Delhi, enhancing overall transportation convenience.
