Pune Metro Line 3 sees 1,000th piling work completed at Balewadi

The work on Pune Metro Line 3, also known as Puneri Metro, on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar route, has gained momentum. The construction of the 23-km-long line reached the milestone of completing 1,000 pilings this week.

The project is a joint venture between Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd, a Tata Group special purpose vehicle, and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).

“The 1,000th piling work was completed today at the proposed station No. 10 of Pune Metro Line 3 near Balewadi Stadium … [along with other works]. We are working towards increasing this number even faster in the upcoming days,” a senior official of Pune IT City Metro Rail said. Piling work is the main construction process used to lay the foundation.

This elevated metro rail project will connect the IT hub of Hinjawadi and the central business district of Shivajinagar. It is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project awarded by PMRDA to a consortium consisting of Tata Group’s TRIL Urban Transport Pvt Ltd and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The Project would be developed and operated by Pune IT City Metro Rail for a concession period of 35 years including the construction period.
