TGSRTC, Hyderabad Metro Introduce Common Travel Pass

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), in association with Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL), has introduced a common travel pass enabling commuters to use city buses and Metro services through a single facility. The pass is intended to support passengers who travel by bus to Metro stations before continuing their journeys by rail.

The common pass will be available at all Hyderabad Metro stations. It can be used on all categories of city bus services operating within the Outer Ring Road area, excluding Pushpak services, as well as on Hyderabad Metro Rail services. The arrangement is designed to simplify transfers for passengers using multiple modes of public transport.

The integrated ticketing facility is also aimed at improving last-mile connectivity between Metro stations and nearby residential, commercial and other areas served by the road transport network. TGSRTC operates an extensive city bus network in Greater Hyderabad and carries approximately 2.5 mn passengers each day. Hyderabad Metro Rail serves around 450,000 passengers daily across its three corridors.

TGSRTC has also launched MeeTicket, a mobile application providing paperless ticketing for city bus journeys. Passengers can use the application to select their boarding point, destination and ticket type, make a digital payment and receive the ticket on their mobile phones.

The application generates a digital ticket containing a dynamic QR code, which passengers can present during their journey for verification by bus staff. MeeTicket offers daily, weekly and monthly bus passes in addition to regular open-ticketing facilities. The new pass and mobile application together provide commuters with additional options for planning and paying for journeys involving city buses and Metro services.
