AP Ministers Study Smart Ports and Industrial Models in Singapore

A delegation of Andhra Pradesh ministers visited Singapore on a study tour to examine the city-state's port systems, industrial infrastructure and urban development models. The high-level team comprised ministers P. Narayana, K. Atchannaidu, B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Vangalapudi Anitha, Y. Satyakumar Yadav and Anagani Satyaprasad.

On the third day of the official visit the delegation reviewed smart port operations at the Port of Singapore Authority, hereafter PSA, and toured Tuas Port which is expected to become the world’s largest fully automated terminal by 2040. Demonstrations included driverless electric automated guided vehicles for container movement and remote-operated cranes managed from centralised control rooms. The ministers also studied applications of artificial intelligence in shipping and logistics aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs.

The team visited JTC Corporation where they were briefed on the development of smart industrial estates that integrate advanced technology with sustainability by former assistant chief executive Seah Kee Pok. They examined projects such as the Punggol Digital District and the Jurong Rock Caverns, an underground oil storage facility designed to optimise land use.

The delegation showed particular interest in the one-north model which combines workplaces with residential, educational and recreational facilities and suggested that similar integrated development models could be considered for Andhra Pradesh’s upcoming industrial corridors. Officials discussed how mixed-use planning could support skill development and attract investment to regional centres.

A round-table meeting with representatives of the Singapore Business Federation followed, attended by executives including Samantha Teo, Amarpreeet Singh and Prasun Mukherjee. The ministers outlined the state’s industrial policies and Speed of Doing Business initiatives under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and invited Singapore-based investors to explore opportunities in Amaravati, green energy, information technology, electronics and logistics.
