APCPDCL Signs Pact With EESL To Promote Energy Efficient Products

Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company (APCPDCL) has entered into a strategic agreement with Energy Efficiency Services (EESL), a joint venture under the Ministry of Power, to expand access to energy efficient appliances and promote consumer savings. The pact, announced by APCPDCL under the Energy Department, will deploy coordinated measures to encourage adoption of energy saving devices among residential consumers. EESL will supply the products and manage backend operations including inventory and logistics.

The move follows APCPDCL achieving an overall A Grade in the Consumer Service Rating of DISCOMs for FY 2024-25 issued by the Ministry of Power, a recognition that the utility has advanced its consumer centric governance, operational performance and service reliability. Under departmental guidance APCPDCL has registered improvements across technical, operational, financial and consumer service parameters and now ranks among the better performing distribution companies nationally. The collaboration is intended to build on that momentum and widen consumer benefits.

As part of the initiative APCPDCL will promote EESL offerings such as LED bulbs, BLDC fans, induction cooktops and star rated air conditioners and direct customers to EESLmart.in through website integration, QR codes, electricity bill messaging, SMS campaigns, WhatsApp outreach and awareness drives at service centres. The outreach will combine digital channels and on ground engagement to simplify access and inform consumers about product specifications, subsidies and purchasing options. EESL will also administer after sales service for participating products.

The partnership is expected to reduce household electricity consumption by 25-35 per cent, according to project projections, while delivering cost savings for consumers and reducing system load. The agreement is valid for three years with a provision for extension and was signed by Animesh Mishra on behalf of EESL and Chief General Manager P Subramanyam on behalf of APCPDCL in the presence of CMD P Pulla Reddy. EESL chief executive officer Akhilesh Kumar Dixit expressed congratulations to APCPDCL on its consumer service achievements.
