Deendayal Port Facilitates Dispatch Of LNG Tanks For Bahamas Project

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) facilitated the dispatch of cryogenic liquefied natural gas tanks built by INOX India Limited (INOX India) for a mini-LNG terminal project in The Bahamas from Kandla in Gujarat on 19 April 2026. The shipment comprised the first batch of 1,500 m³ tanks destined for a terminal being developed at Nassau. The operation involved coordination between port handlers, the manufacturer and multiple stakeholders to prepare the tanks for overseas shipment.

The port authority portrayed the movement as a gateway for a significant global milestone and said it demonstrated the port's capacity to handle complex, high-value cargo and support India's growing role in international energy infrastructure. INOX India confirmed that the consignment marked progress in its overseas LNG project and that the company had worked with DPA to enable the dispatch of the initial batch. The company noted its commitment to advancing the energy transition through specialised cryogenic engineering.

INOX India had earlier described the dispatch as a key milestone, outlining that the project will include multiple large tanks and associated regasification equipment to support island-based power generation. The firm indicated that the scope comprises the largest installation of shop-built, double-walled vacuum insulated tanks globally and that it will supply 10 high-capacity tanks together with a regasification system. Logistics teams at Kandla managed lifting, sea fastening and customs clearance to meet export requirements.

The shipment underlines the role of Indian ports in enabling overseas energy projects and reflects collaboration across industry and port authorities. Stakeholders expected the movement to bolster the company's project timeline and to demonstrate capabilities in handling specialised cryogenic cargo for island utilities. DPA and INOX India acknowledged the contribution of their teams in delivering the consignment and signalled further cooperation on subsequent shipments.
