Indra and AXISCADES Join Forces for Defence Manufacturing

Indra, a European leader in defence, aerospace, and strategic systems, has signed a strategic agreement with AXISCADES Technologies, a prominent Indian provider of technology solutions in defence, aerospace, and strategic electronics. The partnership aims to advance local production of high-tech systems in India, aligning with the country’s growing ambitions in indigenous defence manufacturing.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 16 June 2025 at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget by José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra, and Dr Sampath Ravinarayanan, Chairman of AXISCADES, in the presence of Indra Chairman Ángel Escribano and AXISCADES CEO & Managing Director Alfonso Martínez.

Under the agreement, Indra will source defence-related products and services from AXISCADES, leveraging its full-spectrum capabilities in design, development, manufacturing, and supply chain management. The collaboration includes plans to manufacture key Indra solutions in India, such as antennas for Tactical Air Navigation Systems (TACAN), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) to assist aircraft with in-flight positioning, and countermeasure systems designed to shield aircraft from guided missile threats, including MANPADS.

The partnership also opens opportunities for joint product development for both Indian and international markets. This could involve adapting existing Indra technologies or creating new systems tailored to customer needs. Indra and AXISCADES are additionally evaluating partnerships in Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) solutions and potential collaboration in DRDO’s CABS MRMR (Medium Range Maritime Reconnaissance) and MMMA (Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft) programmes.

This collaboration strengthens Indra’s global position and its strategic alliances network, while also reinforcing its long-standing presence in India. Indra has already delivered advanced systems to the Indian Armed Forces and has contributed significantly to the modernisation of the country’s civil air traffic management infrastructure.

For AXISCADES, the alliance represents a leap forward in bringing next-generation aerospace and defence technology into the domestic ecosystem, supporting the government’s Make in India initiative and positioning the company as a key player in global aerospace solutions.
