Itanagar Municipal Corporation to follow Indore model for cleanliness

Tame Phassang, Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), has petitioned to emulate the Indore model of Jan Bhagidari to make Itanagar the cleanest capital of India.

He told the media that Indore had been declared the cleanest city for the fifth time in a row. Everyone in the city takes the responsibility of keeping the city clean.

A team of officials, including the mayor, corporators, and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) councilors, attended the 6-day training program at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi and visited Indore and Jaipur.

During the team's visit to the solid waste management plants, including dry-waste recovery plant, compost plant, swm at trenching ground among others, in Indore and Jaipur, the team interacted with the mayors and officials to acquire knowledge.

Phassang said that IMC would use technologies and mobile applications, to be developed soon for cleanliness.

He said that 26 new garbage trucks arrived for IMC, and the recruitment process for the manpower has also been initiated. With the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Act 2010, the construction of two solid waste management plants in the Karsingsa and Chimpu districts has also started.
