Road work commences in Madikeri from Ranipete Junction

In Karnataka's Madikeri, newly-elected MLA Appachu Ranjan flagged off work on road and drains taken up under the Chief Minister’s Small and Medium Town Development programme on May 20. The total cost of the work is Rs 30 crore. The Rs two-crore work on laying concrete road from Ranipete Junction to Convent Junction in Madikeri will be taken up in the first phase.

Ranjan said that roads will be developed at a cost of Rs 19 crore and another Rs six crore would be spent on drains. He warned contractors of filing a complaint with the Lokayukta, if the work on ambitious Kundamestri water project fails to see any progress within a month.

People are suffering from acute shortage of water. However, the work on Kundamestri project has not progressed in the last few months. The project aims at supplying water to the CMC limits.

The work on UGD, widening and asphaltation of road from Redfurn Jalashraya extension to Sudarshan guest house (Rs two crore), asphaltation of road in Housing Board colony (Rs 1.85 crore), widening of road from Indira Gandhi Circle to Mahadevapete (Rs 1.80 crore) and other work will be taken up in Madikeri.
