Holcim Foundation to organise global awards for sustainable construction

Holcim Foundation will organise Holcim Awards, a unique and prestigious competition for Sustainable Construction. The competition celebrates designs of innovative, future-oriented and tangible sustainable construction projects and visions from around the globe and provides prize money of $2 million per three-year competition cycle. The competition is organised on regional and global levels with two categories within the competition. The award begins with a regional competition in each of the five world regions: Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. Independent juries supported by the Holcim Foundation's partner universities evaluate submissions on the basis of the "target issues" for sustainable construction. The projects that receive Holcim Awards Gold, Silver or Bronze in these five regions are then qualified for the competition for the Global Holcim Awards. In India the Holcim Global Awards competition is promoted on behalf of the Holcim Foundation jointly by ACC Ltd and Ambuja Cements Ltd.

SEPC Resolves Hindustan Copper Dispute, Wins Rs 725 Mn Order

Engineering, procurement and construction firm SEPC Ltd has recently settled a dispute with Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) and secured a mining infrastructure order valued at Rs 725 million from the state-owned company. SEPC informed the stock exchanges that it has executed a settlement deed with HCL, bringing closure to all inter-se claims and counterclaims arising from arbitration proceedings. 20% Ethanol Blending Cuts India’s CO2 Emissions by 73.6 Mn Tonnes

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently said that India has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 73.6 million metric tonnes due to the adoption of 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol.
