India Exceeds 200 GW Milestone in Renewable Energy Production
In September, India achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the 200 gigawatt (GW) mark in renewable energy (RE) production, driven primarily by solar and wind energy. According to the latest data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the total electricity generation capacity based on renewable energy sources—including small and large hydro, biomass, co-generation, and waste-to-energy—exceeded 200 GW during the month. The total RE production reached 201,457.91 megawatts (MW), with solar contributing 90,762 MW and wind energy contributing 47,363 MW. The share of non-fossil f..
ONGC explores mini-LNG plants for gas evacuation from remote fields
State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is planning to establish mini-LNG plants to evacuate natural gas from wells situated in areas that lack pipeline connections. The company has identified five sites across Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gujarat for the mini plants, which will be located at wellheads and convert the extracted gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG) through supercooling it to minus 160 degrees Celsius. The LNG will then be loaded onto cryogenic trucks and transported to the nearest pipeline, where it will be reconverted into its gaseous state and injected into the ..
