Delhi high court rejects petitions against coal auctions

The Coal Ministry has won four cases related to coal auctions with the Delhi High Court, pronouncing orders against Monnet Ispat & Energy, Jayaswal Neco Industries, Bhushan Power & Steel, and Utkal Coal.

Monnet Ispat had contested classification of Gare Palma IV/5 mine to reserve it for unregulated sector against its previous allotment for iron and steel sector. The high court rejected its plea pointing out that it had participated in the bidding process. Pleas made by of Utkal Coal, Jayaswal Neco and Bhushan Power, challenging different aspects of coal block auctions, were also rejected by the Delhi High Court.
