Five CIL subsidiaries fail to meet target

Five of Coal India Ltd's (CIL) eight subsidiaries have failed to meet their production targets in the last fiscal. This has affected their efforts to narrow the demand-supply gap. CIL that accounts for over 80 per cent of domestic output of the fuel, produced 462 mn tonne in the Year ended March 31, against a target of 482 mn tonne. This was largely due to the poor performance of the five units.
