Great Eastern Energy Corporation (GEECL) initiated a project to extract coal bed methane in the 667 sq km paddy fields of Mannargudi in the Cauvery Delta of Tamil Nadu.The company would drill 50 core wells and 30 pilot production wells from December 2012.
