Diamond Power Commissions Eighth MV and EHV Cable Line

Diamond Power Infrastructure (DPIL) has commissioned its eighth Medium Voltage (MV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cable production line at its manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The new line enhances the company's manufacturing capacity in the technologically advanced MV and EHV underground power cable segment. This segment supplies cables for power transmission networks, power generation projects and renewable energy evacuation systems. The development is presented as a step to meet evolving infrastructure needs.

The MV and EHV cables produced at the Vadodara facility serve urban underground distribution networks, metro rail systems, airports, data centres and industrial infrastructure. Two additional MV/EHV lines are under installation and are expected to become operational on or before 31 March 2027. Upon completion, DPIL will operate a total of 10 MV/EHV lines at the Vadodara site. The expansion is aimed at improving lead times and capacity for large-scale projects.

Demand for MV and EHV underground power cables in India continues to be driven by investments in power transmission and distribution infrastructure, renewable energy integration and urban underground cabling projects. The MV and EHV cable segment remains technology-intensive, requiring high precision manufacturing, advanced testing infrastructure and stringent quality standards. These requirements create significant entry barriers for new participants and favour established manufacturers with specialised capabilities. Market participants are observing steady ordering activity linked to grid modernisation programmes.

DPIL's vice president for projects, Nivedita Pandya, noted that the commissioning marks an important milestone in the company's expansion programme and that the additional capacity will strengthen its ability to serve utilities, power generation projects and renewable energy evacuation systems. With two lines still under implementation, the company intends to consolidate its position in the MV and EHV cable segment. The company also stated that certain forward-looking statements in the release are subject to risks and uncertainties and that actual results may differ. It said it does not undertake any obligation to publicly update such statements.
