Tractebel gets EPCM for two LNG fuelling stations in India

As a part of a sustainability project, liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and dispensing units are getting installed in retail gas stations in India, which currently only provide diesel and gasoline.

Tractebel Engineering Private Limited has received the engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) for two gas stations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

LNG will soon be available at the fuelling stations in the southern part of India for dispensing to long haul trucks, under the government's initiative of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has selected Tractebel for designing, engineering, procurement, and construction management at two gas stations.

The company is helping in procuring LNG equipment, including cryogenic tanks, dispensers, pumps, and associated fittings. After beginning the operations, the LNG gas stations will provide commercial vehicle operators with more access to cleaner fuel, reducing vehicular pollution. The LNG fueling stations will open in July 2022.

Project Manager of Tractebel, Mridul Kumar, said that India's top priority of Clean India Green India's sustainability plan is to reduce vehicular pollution. Tractebel is a part of the initiative, which will provide LNG as a cleaner alternative at retail gas stations. LNG will help in reducing carbon emissions, which is an essential step towards climate change.
