BHEL has developed a 1,200 KVA transformer that costs Rs 25 crore and can serve a population of five lakh if installed at a big power station. The company has been exporting quality transformers to countries like Greece, Jordan, Oman, Afghanistan, many Latin American nations, Tanzania, Iraq, Iran, Libya and Egypt. Egypt and Jordan are the biggest importers of transformers from BHEL.
