THE COMPANYTata Projects Ltd (TPL) was established in 1979 as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company in the engineering sector of the Tata Group. It is one of the earliest and very few Indian EPC companies to have acquired the triple certifications of ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Today, TPL is one of the leading EPC companies in India, admired for its ethics, safety and quality systems. It has seven strategic business units - power generation; transmission and distribution; railways; water and wastewater; metals and minerals; oil, gas and hydrocarbon; and quality services. The company has set up its own power manufacturing unit near Nagpur and has acquired a majority stake in Artson Engineering Ltd (for OGH projects) and formed JV companies Al Tawleed (for projects in Saudi Arabia), TEIL Projects Ltd (with EIL, a central PSU) and TPL-TQA Ltd (for third-party inspection services in South Africa). TPL has over 2,000 employees spread across three regional offices, 15 regional inspection centres and three overseas registered offices. TPL is currently executing 76 projects in India and abroad. Its top line is growing at a CAGR of about 35 per cent for the past five years. As part of its corporate sustainability activities, TPL has identified four focused areas - employability skill development, primary education, safe drinking water and health and community development. It trains underprivileged youth, supports the education of economically backward students, provides safe drinking water through RO plants manufactured by the company and organises health camps for its communities in and around project sites.
