New Power Plants to meet demand by 2018-19

Projecting the Odisha-'s power demand at 6,500 MW by 2018-19, the state government plans to meet the demand through the new power projects. The state will face an additional demand of 2,000 MW after completion of the rural electrification programme. Expecting 400 MW towards state-'s share from independent power projects of Ind Barath, Monet Energy, Jindal India Thermal Power (JITPL) and Maa Durga in 2016, additional 2500 MW will be available from OPGC-'s third and fourth units, NTPC-'s Darlipalli plant (2 x 800 MW) and Ultra Mega Power Project, Bedabahal (5 x 800 MW).
