CEA Suggests Tougher Cybersecurity Norms for India's Power Grid

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has proposed more stringent cybersecurity regulations to enhance the protection of India?s power grid against potential cyber threats. This move comes in response to growing concerns over the security of critical infrastructure amid increasing cyber attacks globally.

The CEA's new guidelines aim to bolster the defences of the power grid by implementing advanced security protocols and regular monitoring systems. These measures are designed to safeguard the grid from cyber intrusions that could disrupt power supply and affect national security.

The proposed norms include enhanced encryption standards, rigorous access controls, and real-time threat detection mechanisms. The CEA also suggests conducting periodic security audits and simulations to ensure that the power grid remains resilient against evolving cyber threats.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to fortifying essential infrastructure and ensuring the reliable operation of the country?s power sector. By adopting these stricter cybersecurity norms, India aims to protect its energy infrastructure from potential vulnerabilities and maintain uninterrupted power supply.
