Emmvee, Vikram, and ReNew win solar module auction

Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, Vikram Solar, and ReNew emerged victorious in NTPC Renewable Energy's (NTPC REL) auction to provide 1.58 GW of crystalline solar bifacial modules with a minimum wattage output of 540 Wp for 1,255 MW projects at the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat's Kutch district. Emmvee secured two blocks of 397.70 MW each, totalling 795.4 MW, while Vikram Solar won a single block with 397.70 MW capacity. ReNew was granted the remaining block with 391.50 MW.

The companies opted not to disclose the contract values. The modules, to be supplied under the domestic content requirement (DCR) category, must be delivered within 245 days of the notification of the award. Emmvee has confirmed that it will supply its TOPCon Bifacial PV Modules for the project.

NTPC REL floated the tender in September 2023 for its 1,255 MW solar projects, comprising four adjacent blocks: 3x 315MW + 1 x 310MW with DC capacity.

Earlier this month, NTPC Renewable Energy invited bids for land and power evacuation packages for a 900 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project in the Neemuch Region of Madhya Pradesh. The scope includes acquiring 5 acres per MW of contiguous land near the Neemuch ISTS substation for a minimum lease duration of 29 years and 11 months, with no more than 10% of the land being government property.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy recently expanded the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) by adding 4,104 MW of new solar module capacity, bringing the cumulative capacity under ALMM to 41,333 MW.
