FlixBus & Vertelo Partner to Launch 500 Electric Intercity Buses in India

FlixBus and Vertelo have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deploy 500 electric intercity coach buses across India. The partnership, which was announced on April 28, 2025, in New Delhi, brings together FlixBus's vast intercity travel network with Vertelo's electric mobility solutions.

FlixBus, which currently connects over 200 cities in India through its digital-first booking platform, will work with Vertelo to speed up the adoption of electric mobility in intercity travel. Vertelo will offer customised financing and leasing options for electric buses, develop the required charging infrastructure, and collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure the deployment of suitable electric coach models.

As part of the agreement, FlixBus will manage demand generation for intercity electric bus routes and identify key routes for electric bus deployment. This partnership aligns with India’s vision of greener mobility solutions and supports FlixBus’s expansion plans across the country.

Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus India, commented that the partnership with Vertelo was a significant step toward promoting greener and more sustainable intercity travel in India. He emphasized that by combining FlixBus’s extensive network and customer reach with Vertelo’s expertise in electric vehicle financing and operations, they are committed to making eco-friendly mobility accessible and efficient for millions of travelers.

Sandeep Gambhir, CEO of Vertelo, expressed that their collaboration with FlixBus reflects their shared vision for a cleaner planet through innovative electric mobility solutions. He highlighted that the partnership would offer tailored financing and leasing solutions and contribute to creating a sustainable ecosystem that makes electric mobility the natural choice for commercial bus fleet operators.

He also mentioned their excitement about partnering with FlixBus and fleet operators to ensure the right product market fit, along with capabilities that go beyond traditional leasing and financing solutions. This includes providing charging infrastructure and energy management systems to drive the future of sustainable transportation in India.

The collaboration is expected to generate employment opportunities within the electric mobility sector and enhance the infrastructure needed for large-scale electric bus operations. FlixBus plans to expand its network to connect more communities across India, while Vertelo aims to solidify its position as a leading enabler of electric vehicle adoption through its comprehensive ecosystem of leasing, financing, and infrastructure solutions.
