Green Campus project launched by MUHS

Green Campus project was launched by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor of the varsity Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar (retd). The project aims to preserve nature via conservation as well as a plantation of trees.

VC Kanitkar said that people visit universities like Harvard and Oxford to see the campuses. They also want to develop their university in such a way that it makes people want to come to see their campus.

She said under this project, drip irrigation will be included on the university campus. A walking and cycling track will also be set up on the campus along with the plantation of medicinal plants. The aim is to make the premises of the university cleaner, greener, beautiful and safer.

Furthermore, the varsity is also planning on creating rainwater harvesting, solar power generation, compost projects, an environment for the natural habitat of birds and animals, and so on.

Under the Green Campus projects, several groups are now created of varsity officials as well as employees making physical contributions to the success of the development project. The respective groups including the officials and employees are allotted areas where they need to work.

MUHS officials told the media that a while ago the university officials and employees took up the university campus cleaning work.

University Registrar Dr Kalidas Chavan said several initiatives have been organised at the university, and Green Campus is one of them.
