IISc-Incubated Deep-Tech Firm Rolls Out Thermal Energy Storage Solutions

A deep-tech start-up based in Bengaluru has successfully deployed its thermal energy storage solutions at a textile manufacturing unit, advancing the renewable energy industry’s capabilities. Voltanova, incubated at the Foundation of Science, Innovation, and Development at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), developed this cutting-edge Thermal Energy Storage system. It delivers high-temperature, carbon-free industrial energy at one-fifth of the cost compared to traditional storage systems.

With an impressive efficiency rate of 95 per cent, the system transforms renewable energy into high-temperature heat and power, eliminating the need for fossil fuels, according to a company statement. Voltanova has partnered with the RMP Group, which operates textile units in Panipat and Faridabad. Designed for multi-day energy storage, this solution ensures uninterrupted 24/7 operations, making it suitable for energy-intensive industries like textiles, steel, cement, chemicals, and more.
