Indian cabinet to explore power grid link with Saudi

The Indian cabinet is expected to discuss the memorandum of understanding signed with Saudi Arabia on power grid interconnection through undersea cables.

There is a proposal awaiting approval for power grid interconnection through undersea cables between India and the UAE. In January, the two countries had announced plans to conduct a feasibility study in alignment with the "One Sun, One World, One Grid" initiative.

Once the cabinet gives its approval, the Indian government will proceed to sign bilateral agreements.

It was disclosed that the 18th G20 Summit will take place in New Delhi, India, from September 9 to 10, 2023. Saudi Arabia, as a member of the G20, will also participate.

Implementation Status of Jal Jeevan Mission

Since August 2019 the Government has implemented Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured potable water through household tap connections in rural India. At the start of the mission only 32.3 million (mn) rural households, representing 16.7 per cent, were reported to have tap water connections.
