J&K Invites Bids for Rooftop Solar Systems

The Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) has announced an invitation for bids to install rooftop solar systems across the Union Territory. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to promote renewable energy and reduce reliance on traditional power sources, aiming to harness the abundant solar potential in the region.

The project targets the installation of 200 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential, institutional, social, and government buildings. This move is expected to significantly contribute to the region's energy security, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable development.

Interested bidders are required to submit their proposals by July 20, 2024. The scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar systems, along with comprehensive maintenance for five years. JAKEDA will provide financial incentives and subsidies to encourage participation and ensure the affordability of these installations for end-users.

This initiative aligns with India's broader national goal of achieving 40 GW of rooftop solar capacity by 2022, as part of its commitment to renewable energy and climate action. By tapping into the solar energy potential, Jammu and Kashmir aim to mitigate the region's power shortages, enhance energy independence, and support economic growth through green energy jobs and infrastructure development.

The implementation of rooftop solar systems will not only provide a reliable and clean energy source but also empower local communities by reducing electricity bills and fostering energy self-sufficiency. JAKEDA's proactive approach reflects the region's commitment to a sustainable and resilient energy future.

The decision enables ONGC’s Dehradun establishment to employ personnel on a contractual basis to meet operational requirements. The long-standing prohibition had limited ONGC’s ability to fill vacancies in its technical and administrative departments, often leading to project delays and higher dependence on outsourcing. With the court’s directive, the public sector enterprise can now proceed with temporary recruitments whil..
