John Cockerill Plans Nuclear Expansion in India

Belgium-based engineering firm John Cockerill is positioning itself as a key contributor to India's expanding nuclear sector by providing critical services and equipment. The company has extensive expertise in nuclear maintenance and cooling systems, which it aims to utilize in India’s growing nuclear infrastructure. Through its subsidiary, John Cockerill Hamon, the company is also exploring the development of cooling towers for upcoming nuclear power plants. This initiative aligns with India’s increasing demand for efficient cooling solutions in the nuclear sector.

In addition to its nuclear projects, John Cockerill is making significant investments in India’s green hydrogen industry. In collaboration with Greenko, the company is developing a two-gigawatt electrolyser manufacturing facility in Kakinada. Production at this plant is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, contributing to India’s efforts in green energy transition.
