Kejriwal Announces Six Guarantees for Goa

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has announced six guarantees for Goa, including 300 units of free electricity each month, a waiver of outstanding power bills and round-the-clock supply. The package also includes monthly assistance of Rs. 3,000 for every woman above 18, free bus travel for women, health insurance and sports facilities.

Addressing a public meeting in Panaji during a three-day visit, Kejriwal said the proposed health insurance scheme would provide annual coverage of up to Rs. 1 mn per family. The cover would include medicines, diagnostic tests and hospitalisation. He also promised sports grounds and equipment in every village and ward.

Under the electricity guarantee, all pending bills would be waived within a week if AAP formed the government. Residents would receive 300 free units each month from April, while the party would work to ensure uninterrupted electricity. Kejriwal said some residents were receiving bills ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 0.1 mn or more.

The monthly assistance for women would apply regardless of family income or religion, according to the AAP leader. He also proposed free bus travel for women and criticised Goa’s Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana, saying some patients still had to bear a significant portion of private hospital expenses.

Kejriwal said the party would prepare local manifestos at booth level after consulting residents about civic problems in each ward. Elected representatives would be responsible for addressing the issues identified through the consultations.

He cited AAP’s record in Delhi and Punjab while promising to implement the guarantees if elected. Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress of failing to address concerns related to roads, water shortages, power cuts and governance. He also alleged that Congress legislators had later joined the BJP after being elected by voters opposed to it.
