NLC India Renewables Wins 600 MW Project With 300 MW Storage

NLC India Renewables Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited, has secured a contract from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop a 600 megawatt (MW) power generation project integrated with a large energy storage system of 300 MW and 1,800 megawatt-hours (MWh). The subsidiary accepted the Letter of Award on 3 February 2026 and has committed to develop and operate the project. The contract was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process administered by SECI. The project notification was submitted to stock exchanges to inform investors and stakeholders.

The allocation forms part of a broader framework that comprises 1,200 MW of renewable generation capacity supported by 600 MW and 3,600 MWh of energy storage. The initiative is categorised as a domestic power generation and supply project and is expected to strengthen India's renewable energy infrastructure. The development is intended to support grid integration of variable renewable sources and to increase capacity for dispatchable clean power. The project timeline includes delivery obligations to ensure timely commissioning.

The Power Purchase Agreement will remain in force for 25 years, providing long-term revenue visibility for the developer and certainty for off-takers. The entire capacity must be made ready for supply within 24 months from the effective date of the agreement and the Scheduled Commencement of Supply Date will mark the start of commercial generation. NLC India confirmed that the transaction complies with Securities and Exchange Board of India disclosure requirements and that its promoters and group entities have no interest in SECI. The company said the award does not constitute related party dealings.

NLC India Limited, a Navratna public sector enterprise, is expanding its renewables-focused portfolio through its subsidiary as part of a strategy to accelerate the energy transition. The award reflects growing interest in large-scale solar plus storage projects and aligns with national objectives to enhance grid reliability and increase clean energy capacity. The development is expected to contribute materially to the company's long-term generation mix and operational footprint. Stakeholders will monitor implementation milestones as the project progresses.
