Power Ministry and DRDO to develop mitigation measures

Today, the Ministry of Power signed an MoU with the Ministry of Defence's Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for the implementation of an Early Warning System for vulnerable hydro projects and power stations.

The Ministry of Power and the DRDO will collaborate to develop appropriate mitigation measures for avalanches, landslides, glaciers, glacial lakes, and other geo-hazards. The DRDO's expertise will also be put to use in the development of a comprehensive Early Warning System for vulnerable hydro projects and power stations in hilly areas. In accordance with the broad understanding developed through this MoU, separate and specific tasks will be developed between DRDO and the respective project developer(s).
