SECI announces 800 MW Renewable RTC Power Procurement Tender

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced its plans to procure Round-the-Clock (RTC) power from renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 800 MW. The primary focus of this initiative is to cater to the electricity needs of Haryana's distribution companies (discoms). These projects will be established under the "Build Own Operate" (B-O-O) model. SECI will enter into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with successful bidders selected through a Request for Selection (RfS) process. The selected bidders will be responsible for supplying power for a period of 25 years, based on the terms, conditions, and provisions outlined in the RfS.

SECI is currently preparing to launch the RfS for RTC tranche IV, inviting interested project developers to participate in the bidding process for this capacity. SECI's Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) specifies that a solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity of up to 1200 MWp will be established in Haryana, connected to the State Transmission Utility (STU). The wind capacity, on the other hand, will be established on a pan-India basis and connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). Additionally, all projects are required to include an Energy Storage System (ESS) component, either in a co-located or standalone configuration.

The tender will be conducted following the standard bidding guidelines for tariff-based competitive bidding processes for the procurement of reliable and dispatchable power from grid-connected renewable energy projects with Energy Storage Systems, as issued by the government.
