Siegwerk inaugurates solar power park in Jaisalmer

Siegwerk, a leading global provider of printing inks and coatings, proudly announces the inauguration of its state-of-the-art solar power park in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on the occasion of World Environment Day 2024. This landmark project underscores Siegwerk?s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy, propelling the company closer to its ambitious goal of achieving 30% renewable energy consumption at its Bhiwadi Centre of Excellence (CoE) by the year 2025.

This facility which is capable to generate 2,028,000 KWh of electricity per year was installed recently, significantly contributing to Siegwerk's renewable energy targets. The solar park spans 2.7 acres in Jaisalmer, a region renowned for its high solar radiation, approximately 20% greater than Bhiwadi, enabling enhanced electricity generation. The high level of sun radiation in the area ensures efficient and abundant electricity generation, supporting Siegwerk's energy needs at the Bhiwadi site. The solar park will contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions by 1,843 tons annually.

An agreement was finalized with a DISCOM, ensuring that the solar power generated is efficiently integrated into the grid. Consequently, official power drawl from the solar park commenced on May 8, 2024. This project clearly showed the strategic focus of Siegwerk in generating a positive environmental impact by fostering innovation in energy solutions to contribute to a greener future for all.

Commenting at the unveiling of the solar power park, Mr. Ashish Pradhan, President, Siegwerk Asia said ?Siegwerk India?s solar park project is a testament to our dedication to sustainable energy solutions and its proactive approach to environmental responsibility. By significantly increasing its renewable energy consumption, Siegwerk sets an industry example, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of transitioning to cleaner energy sources. We will remain committed to sustainability and innovation, driving forward the transition to renewable energy and make a positive impact on the environment and the communities it serves.?

The solar park in Jaisalmer is expected to be in operation for 25 years, hence contributing to producing renewable energy and carbon reduction over the long term.
