Srinagar Expands 24-Hour Power Coverage

The Chief Minister on Wednesday congratulated Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) for extending 24-hour electricity supply to 83 additional areas of Srinagar after a Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) trial was completed without a single power cut.

With the latest rollout, 108 areas across the city are now receiving round-the-clock, uninterrupted electricity, benefiting nearly 0.125 million households and covering around 48 per cent of Srinagar, according to official data.

The Chief Minister shared the update in a post on X, describing it as a significant step towards ensuring reliable and high-quality power supply for residents of the summer capital.

Officials said the achievement was the result of sustained infrastructure upgrades and system strengthening carried out under the RDSS, which aims to reduce outages, improve operational efficiency and enhance consumer services.

They added that similar power distribution upgrades are being implemented in other districts of the Union Territory as part of a phased plan to extend 24×7 electricity supply across Jammu and Kashmir.
