Tata Motors and Tata Power to Develop Joint Wind-solar Project

Tata Motors announced on that it had signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Renewable Energy to jointly develop a 131 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. According to a statement from the Mumbai-based automaker, the initiative is expected to generate approximately 300 million units of clean electricity annually and offset over 2 lakh tons of CO? emissions each year.

Vishal Badshah, Vice President – Operations, Commercial Vehicles at Tata Motors, stated that as a major player in India’s mobility and logistics sector, the company was proud to lead the way in sustainable manufacturing. He emphasised that the project reaffirmed Tata Motors' commitment to integrating renewable energy into its operations and reducing its carbon footprint while striving to meet its RE-100 targets. He added that the initiative aligned with the company’s larger vision of delivering sustainable mobility solutions across the entire value chain—from production to performance.

Similarly, Pramod Choudhary, Vice President – Operations, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, expressed that the company remained dedicated to shifting to clean energy in its pursuit of building a future-ready automotive business. He noted that the PPA would enable the company’s plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat to make significant progress toward green manufacturing, thereby supporting India’s broader green transition. He described the move as a crucial step in making the passenger vehicle operations more sustainable, smarter, and resilient.

The company further mentioned that the integrated wind-solar hybrid solution would ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply of green energy exclusively for Tata Motors' six manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Gujarat, thereby supporting the production of both commercial and passenger vehicles.
