VFlowTech, IIT Delhi Unit To Recover Vanadium From Petcoke

Storage solutions provider VFlowTech on Tuesday announced a strategic collaboration with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), the industry interface of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), to explore the recovery of high-purity vanadium from petcoke.
The initiative is aimed at creating India’s first circular vanadium ecosystem by transforming refinery waste into battery-grade vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅), a key component in advanced long-duration batteries. These batteries are essential for ensuring grid stability and scaling up the use of renewable energy.
In a joint statement, the partners noted that this development could reduce dependence on vanadium imports and enable India to build a sustainable supply chain for critical battery materials.
