German submarine builder ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has signed an agreement with Indian shipyard Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. to ensure local manufacturing if the Indian Navy chooses TKMS for new submarines. The memorandum of understanding was signed in Mumbai during the visit of German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius to the region. The agreement focuses on the construction of conventional, air-independent propulsion submarines. TKMS clarified that its role would primarily involve providing engineering, design, and consultancy services, while Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders would handle the manufacturing and delivery. This approach aligns with India's policy of promoting domestic production of military equipment.Contact: ThyssenKrupp Marine SystemsWebsite: www.thyssenkrupp-marinesystems.com
